You think of the perfect birthday message on Tuesday, and the birthday is on Saturday. You could write it down and hope you remember. Or you can make the greeting now and schedule it to open at the moment you pick, even midnight. ShareGreet calls these time-capsule links.
When you share a video greeting, the share sheet offers two choices: Send now and Schedule it. If you schedule it, you choose a date and time, and then share the link as usual. Until that moment, anyone who opens the link sees a countdown. When the time comes, the same link opens your greeting.
A simple page with the countdown. It does not show the video, the thumbnail or the text of your message, and it is not stored by search engines, so the surprise stays a surprise. The page is never cached, so refreshing after the time works straight away.
Say the birthday is Saturday. On Thursday you make a card and, in the share sheet, choose Schedule it for Saturday at 12:00 a.m. in their time zone. You paste the link into your chat with them on Thursday evening, with a line like “Open this on Saturday.” They see a countdown until midnight, and when the date changes the same link shows your card. You do not need to be awake.
Pair it with reminders so you never miss the date: saved dates and reminders.
No. The link itself opens at the time you choose. You share the link with the person yourself, either right away (they see a countdown) or later.
At least one minute ahead and up to about a year.
No. Until the opening time the page shows only a countdown, with no video, thumbnail or text from the greeting.
